10 Sure-fire Ways to Kill Your eBay Business

June 16th, 2010 Comments off

It’s surprisingly easy to kill your eBay business, if you’re not careful – sure, you can start over from scratch without it costing you anything, but do you really want to? Still, if you want your business to end up dead in the water, here are some simple ways to do it.

Lie about an item: Say it works fine when it sometimes doesn’t work. Say it’s in perfect condition when it has a scratch. Your customers will hate you!

Post whenever you feel like it: Make sure to leave your customers hanging around, wondering when their item is going to turn up. This makes sure they buy from someone else next time.

Let items end anytime: Few people will be around to care about your auction if it ends in the middle of the night. Why go to the trouble of working out whether auctions will end at a good time?

Don’t bother with email: Customers are just timewasters anyway. eBay businesses are supposed to run themselves! Never give informed responses to questions about your item.

Sell rubbish: Really, it’s just eBay. You can just sell any old tat from the market for a 200% profit. Let quality be someone else’s concern – I mean, really, what do they expect for that price?

Refuse to give discounts: You know what your items cost, you know what your profit margin is going to be, and you’re not going to negotiate. Remember that giving customers special deals might make them feel good and come back to you again.

Make your listings ugly: As many colours, flashing lights and animations as possible will really give those customers a headache. Write as much in CAPITALS!!!! as you can. Preferably big, red capitals. Be sure to use the fonts Impact and Comic Sans. For an extra special touch, see if you can figure out a way to add some music.

Don’t take photos: It’s such trouble, after all. If buyers are picky enough to actually want to see items before they bid on them, then screw ‘em, that’s what I say.

Write short descriptions: Be as brief as possible, and use lots of mysterious abbreviations. This obviously makes you look very cool. You can even just write the title again in the description box. Think of the effort you’ll save!

Use reserve auctions: Now, this is a fairly controversial final choice, but it really is one of the best ways to scare away your customers. They’ll see ‘reserve not yet met’, and click that ‘back’ button before you know it. Luckily, they can always bid in a normal auction for the item somewhere else.

Now that you know the ten ways to kill your eBay business, how about we explore what to do if you want to do the opposite, and make a success of it? The next email will give you ten steps to successful selling on eBay.

3 Steps To Getting Listed In The Search Engines

June 12th, 2010 Comments off

You’ve just finished putting in all kinds of effort towards getting your website online. You’re ready to take orders and make sales. The only problem is… No one can find your website! You need to get listed in the major search engines in order to get visitors to visit your website. What can you do? Follow these 3 steps and the search engines will know about your site in no time at all.

1. Write an article related to the main topic of your website.

Not sure if you know enough about writing to write an article? Don’t worry about being perfect. Write about what you know. Keep the article short, between 300-600 words long. When you write the article, give out general information that anyone would gladly post on their site as valuable content. Don’t try to sell your product or service in this article.

Remember the goal of the article is for you to get a valuable link back to your website, not to make a sale. In fact, if you try to make a sale in the article, most webmasters will not want to publish your article on their site. The whole goal of writing articles is to get your articles on as many websites as possible with a link pointing back to your site.

2. Include a resource box at the end of the article with your website link in it.

If you’ve created a good general information article that is relevant to the topic of your website, you are ready to create your resource box. Keep in mind here to get to the point quickly. It is usually considered fine to promote your product or service in this resource box but it is necessary to keep it short. You should remember that the main point of including this resource box is to get a link going back to your website. The secondary purpose of the resource box is to get readers of your article to click through and visit your website.

When including a link in your resource box, make sure that one of your links includes the main keywords of your home page. Keywords are a fancy term for the phrase or words a visitor will type in to find your website. Make the keyword the clickable portion of the link instead of your web address. Put this keyword text in between your html anchor link.

3. Submit your article to the major article directories.

Once you’ve created your article, submit it to the major article directories to get the article distributed on as many websites as possible. Some major article directories include EzineArticles, ArticleCity, ZapContent.com and Isnare. Some services like Isnare will even distribute your article for you for a fee.

Do these three steps and search engines will find, crawl, then list your website in their listings. It’s as simple as that!

Domain Name Generator – Come Up The Best Names!

May 31st, 2010 Comments off

Here comes another innovation in the field of domain names with the emergence of the domain name generator. If you are familiar with the domain name generator, it is a general view that the domain name generator is a program that can generate the chosen domain names typically from the provided keywords and by using particular theme or domain name category.

Since the domain name generator’s primary function is to generate the desired domain names, the domain name experts have considered that it is indeed a very tough task to generate domain names with the absence of a special software tool that could make the functioning of the domain name generator easier and quick. Some of the experts even considered such absence of the software as a real nightmare.

But what really is the main reason that they designed such software tool for the domain name generator?

For so many reasons, the domain name experts designed such software tool for the domain name generator with a primary purpose of providing a much flexible and private service for the domain name holders in which many of the web-based services simply cannot offer. As such, they named their software for the domain name generator as “Available Domains Pro”.

Speaking of this software tool for the domain name generator, it is considered that this software is a feature-packed, convenient and fast domain name checker that locates catchy domain names for personal or business web sites and then manages them. And in terms of the domain name generator with this software, the domain name generator then can function well and give the expected outputs to the domain name consumers.

For the domain name generator’s function, it is considered that for the domain name generator to generate domain names, the effort of the domain name consumers is highly needed. So to mention, the domain name consumers should feed the domain name generator with the necessary keywords and optional domain category or theme. Then, it is important to click the generate button for the domain name generator’s function. After such steps, it is given that the domain name consumers should then check the resulted domain name list for or soon to expire available domains. And in terms of those soon to expire domains, it is considered that the lookup link popularity should be clicked for soon to expire domain names and as domain name consumers they have the right to snap those domains if they are really great. And one-last strengths of the domain name generator with the software is that it can predict Domain Deletion Date, so the consumers can track domain names that delete soon.

Selling Second-Hand Goods Online: A Lucrative Business

May 25th, 2010 Comments off

The internet has virtually changed the way we certain aspects of our lives. It has changed the way we view where we get the latest news, how to communicate with one another, how we play, how we shop and even how we trade and make money.

The internet has made these aspects of our lives more instantaneous and, with regards to shopping and trading, brought these activities to our door steps. It now allows us to shop and purchase items that we like by just looking at the items offered in different websites. Ditto for trading, where we now have the opportunity to sell and trade products and, thus earn money, from the comfort of our homes.

The potential for online trading is so great that there are now people who do this professionally. They have quit their regular jobs and instead work and support their families by buying and selling various products online.

One of the most lucrative and interesting aspect of online trading is the buying and selling of used or second-hand goods. Through the power of the internet, web based marketplaces have sprouted all over where visitors can browse around for various second hand goods and purchase them online. It is like a virtual flea market where you can browse through different items of interest that have been owned previously by other people. The significant difference between doing this in an actual flea market and selling it online is the number of people of potential customers that will see your items. Potentially, the people that will be able to see your items online can number in the high thousands, and that is just a conservative estimate. What’s more since you sell your items online, you won’t have to man any stalls or booths. If there is a person who wants to buy your items, then you just get notified by email. Isn’t that convenient?

People who would like to try selling their used goods online don’t even have to set up their own websites – which can be quite difficult especially since you will need to install a payment gateway which can be quite hard and expensive to set up. They can always go join online communities that encourage the buying and selling of used goods. Communities like http://www.usedjunction.com make the task of selling used goods so much easier. These websites already have their infrastructure in place that can accommodate both the buying and selling functions of a virtual marketplace. Another benefit of joining these online communities is that you get to take advantage of the marketing muscle of the website. With minimal marketing efforts from you as a seller, you can be assured that prospective customers will still be able the items that you are selling. This is a tremendous benefit that should not be overlooked. Just make sure that you give a good description of your item, and more importantly good quality pictures of the items that you are selling so that you can be noticed by prospective buyers.

Seven Simple Ways to Optimize Your Site for the Search Engines

April 27th, 2010 Comments off

Would you love to know the secrets of search engine optimisation? Here’s a seven step guide to improving your ranking in the search engines.

First you need to find what people are looking for when they visit your site. Researching what actual words people type in to search engines is vital, these are your “keywords”.

Do your research on your keywords using Overture and Wordtracker. Overture will tell you how many people are searching on particular words or phrases. Wordtracker gives you an idea how much competition there is for those keywords.

Once you have your list of keywords, then you are ready to optimise your website. I say keywords as, with increasing competition on the internet, you are more likely to have success with keyword phrases or a group of keywords, than with just one keyword.

There are just seven easy steps:-

1. Name your site appropriately – if your site is about cat food, then include the keywords “cat food” in the title of your site
2. Ensure that your keywords are included in the page title
3. Add a Header tag using H1 tags
4. Use your keyword in the first line and last line of your content
5. Add an Alt Tag to your pictures which includes a description of the picture and includes your keywords
6. Ensure that your keyword is included in the outbound links from your site, an easy way to do this is to link the page back to itself.
7. Sprinkle your keyword a couple more times throughout your text and ensure that you have at least 250 words on the page. If you can’t write this much, then write an introduction and then add a free article from one of the Article Directories, such as Ezine Articles.

If you include most of these on each of your pages, you’ll find that you should move up in the search engine rankings over time.

All of these methods are what is called “on page” optimisation.

You can also optimise “off page” by building links to your website, using one of the many link swapping sites available.

You can also create quality links to your site is by leaving comments when you visit other people’s blogs. When leaving a comment, ensure that the “name” you leave includes your keyword, where possible, and a link back to your site. For example, you could leave a comment from “Jo @ Cat foods”, linking back to your website address. If you’re not sure where to find relevant blogs, either type in your keyword and the word “blog” into any of the search engines, or visit Blogger . com and run a search for your keywords.

Another great way of creating links to your site, is by writing and submitting articles to sites such as Ezine Articles.com ensuring that a link to your own site is entered in the Resource Box.

You may not see immediate results from your efforts, but with patience you will find that you see more visitors coming to your site as your rankings in the search engines improve.

You can find out more about starting and running your internet business, visit Start your own online home business.

Auctions

April 24th, 2010 Comments off

The rules of an auction
Whether online or offline, auctions are quite popular and have been a major attraction for businessmen as well as common folks and it existed as far as one can trace back in history. Auctions have existed since the dawn of time, and they simply continued evolving alongside its society. In case you are new to auctioning or if you want to skim through the basic rules, here are the basic steps that can be seen at a regular auction.

1) Person X wants to sell an object.
There is an object in which you wish to sell, but do not know how much it could go for; in that case, it may be better to have it shown to everyone. (It is also quite possible that you know the value of the object, but simply want to fetch the highest price possible.)

2) Person X brings the object to an auctioneer
After setting a base price for your object, it is then given to an auctioneer. This so-called auctioneer can either be a real person or a website that acts as a virtual mediator.

3) The auction opens; war rages on
The auction is shown to the public (which does not apply to a silent auction) people then bid on the object; if Person A bets $5, then any other individual wishing to acquire the object must bid $5 plus an increment.

4) The auction ends
The auction will end under at least three circumstance: if the auctioneer deems the current bid so impressive that he closes the auction, if the time allotted for the object has finished and finally, if one person bid and no other person decided to outbid him.

Offline versus Online
When the digital age came, it brought with it some very important auction-like websites that specialize in having items presented and sold exactly like offline auctions. Evidently, offline auctions end much quicker than online ones, since the later can actually last for days with bids flying left and right. As well, it is normally easier to navigate and get information about items up for auction on a nicely organized website. Where the offline auctions get the higher hand is when it is time to finalize the transaction with the exchange of good and money. In an online auction, you need to place trust in the seller to actually send you the item as they will normally wait until they received the money before sending the object to you; such problem does not occur in offline auctions

Techniques
Being Patient
Being patient is a key strategy in both type of auctions, but is probably more prominent in offline auctions, as everyone came with a set amount of money. It is quite possible that inexperienced buyers will be eager to participate in bid wars; waiting is actually quite a good option, if you are patient, you may see a clearer picture.
Sniping
Sniping is a legitimate and quite popular technique used in online auctions. Since online auctions are timed, an eager buyer will be constantly watching over the item. If you bid an amount of money an hour before it ends, the eager buyer will definitely notice and bid higher. Sniping consists of bidding as close to the end as possible; although very frustrating, this technique allows you to bid higher than other buyers and blocks them from outbidding you as by the time the higher bid is noticed, the auction will have ended. Obviously if you are out-snipped, then you will have learned the risks of sniping.

Many affiliates are searching for products that have very high price tag so that they can earn more commissions upon a sale. Of course, make sure the price is reasonable so people will actually dig their wallets out for it.

7. Offer High Commissions
A high commission is a great motivation for affiliates. If they can earn a big portion of commissions from a product or service upon their sales, it gives them a reason to continue promoting your product or service to people. Be generous on this, because affiliates can earn you twice as much alone, maybe even more! As the saying goes “give and you shall receive.”

8. Embed the Tell-A-Friend Function
Did you place the tell-a-friend function on your sales page? Did you place any of it on your order page either? How about the thank you page? And the page after people subscribed to your newsletter? If you haven’t, you’re a sales killer, you’re an affiliate killer.

Humans are lazy, they need a nudge before doing anything. Many people think that the tell-a-friend functions are not effective but the fact is, they rock hard. Have you been on a page where you feel like telling a friend but it takes so many things to do that so you simply leave the page and forget it?

What if there’s a tell-a-friend function right in front of your eyes? You’d just fill in the form in 5 seconds and send it all to your friends. That’s how Tickle, MySpace, Friendster and all the other high traffic website works – the word of mouth!

Therefore, if you haven’t applied any of the steps above, take action now and do it today. To your success.

4 Steps to Lower Your Shopping Cart Abandonment Rate

March 31st, 2010 Comments off

The shoppers are on your site, they are interested in the product, but the design of your shopping cart is causing you to lose many if not most of your customers. Sound familiar? It should.

Recent research indicates that the average e-commerce site is losing near 75 percent of its shoppers during shopping cart phase of a transaction. While that statistic is probably influenced upward by a few terrible websites, the fact remains that most sites are losing huge numbers of customers by not focusing on their shopping cart. Fortunately, by taking a few relatively minor steps, you can vastly decrease your shopping cart abandonment rate.

Fewer Steps are Better

This mantra is as old as e-commerce itself. By forcing your customers to go through multiple pages you will assuredly see some attrition. You should ask yourself, is all the information I am collecting absolutely necessary? Is there another configuration that would reduce the number of steps my customers will face? Surprisingly, however, this is probably the last step that you should take. Unless your process is particularly laborious, empirical studies indicate that this will likely affect your attrition minimally for the cost and effort required. So, I am not saying not to reduce your checkout steps, but only that you should prioritize the other steps above this one.

Progress Indicators

In both e-commerce and brick and mortars, the single biggest inhibitor to conversions is uncertainty. This is certainly easy to imagine when you consider some brick and mortar examples. BestBuy stores have transitioned to a single line for all of their cashiers rather than having customers pick a cashier to line up in front of. Why? The answer is simple, uncertainty hurts conversion rates. Humans have an instinctual desire to know what is coming ahead. By including a progress indicator at each and every step of the checkout process you will see some remarkable increases in customer retention. Even if you have a 10 step checkout process, letting customers know where they are along the process will ensure a much greater number of completions.

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures

Shoppers respond to sensory stimulation. People like to take things off the shelf and inspect them. Because that option isn’t available for e-commerce sites, you need to compensate for this deficiency as best as possible. One way to ensure better conversions is to include pictures not only in the store but also in the cart. Shoppers, especially those new to e-commerce want to verify and re-verify that they have made the correct choice. Many of these customers are lost if you force them to use their browser’s back buttons to do so. By placing a picture of the item to be purchased within the shopping cart, much of this need is alleviated, meaning lower abandonment for you.

Provide Total Cost Estimates Early

One of the most overlooked concerns of customers is their distrust of e-commerce sites when it comes to shipping. Maybe it’s the years of telemarketers selling garbage products for close to nothing and then making their profit on the shipping. Whatever the reason, it is important to allay fears of hidden costs as soon as possible by providing your users with a total cost estimate earlier rather than later. Is there something to be said for bringing the customer in with a low-ball lead price? Yes. But after the leader it is important to let customers know what they are really paying as early as possible so as to give a few moments to acclimate to the increase.

How Long Does It Take Your Site To Load on Dial Up?

March 7th, 2010 Comments off

Your site is getting traffic, but conversion rates are horrible. Everything seems to be working, so what’s wrong? Your site may simply be to slow.

Load Times – Are You Driving A Ferrari or Moped?

Give some thought to the sites you have visited of the past few weeks. Were you willing to wait 20 seconds for a site to load or did you hit the back button? Why would visitors to your site behave any differently? They won’t.

Webmasters, designers and site owners universally access the web through high-speed connections. Because of this, it is easy to forget roughly 40 percent of surfers use dial-up connections. While your site may appear to load quickly on your high-speed connection, have you tried loading it on a 56k connection? The results can be shocking.

Sites that appear to load quickly on a high-speed connection can take forever on 56k. It is not unheard of to find a “fast site” actually takes 30, 50 or 80 seconds to load on a 56k. Sometimes, the load time is so slow the browser will actually “time out” and fail to show anything. If your site has this problem, 40 percent of the hits are worthless. Worse, those frustrated surfers are unlikely to try to access your site in the future even if you fix the speed problems.

How fast should a page load on a 56k connection? As fast as possible, but no slower then 25 seconds. If you can get 56k load times below 10 seconds, you can turn a negative into a competitive advantage. Surfers come back to fast sites.

Determining Load Times

The best way to determine the load time for your site is to actually use a 56k connection. While this solution isn’t particularly technical, it will let you see exactly what your prospects are seeing when they visit the site. You will be able to see what loads quickly and what appears slowly. This should let you isolate particular elements in need of optimizing.

Server statistics can also provide you with evidence of slow load times. Are users spending a lot of time on entry pages, but not visiting internal pages? Either you have poor content or a loading problem.

Finally, you can also use diagnostic programs to test load times. Typically, the programs will kick out estimated load times for dial-up, DSL and T1 connections. Make sure you test your home page and internal pages. Diagnostic programs are excellent tools, but don’t get lazy. Make sure you physically watch your site load on a dial-up connection. The experience will prove invaluable to improving your site and conversion rates.

Improving Performance

The steps needed to improve the performance of your site often depend on the nature of the site. A database driven site will have different issue than a graphic intense site. There are, however, universal factors that can be checked:

1. Graphics: Typically, browsers have to make a connection for each image on a page. The more you have, the longer the load time. Limiting the number and size of graphics can help.

2. Tables: If you use tables, try to break them up into smaller modules. Large tables can negatively impact load times.

3. Multimedia: If it flashes, explodes, spins or blinks, consider ditching it. Yes, it looks great, but is it worth 40% of your audience?

4. Size: Scrutinize the size of your pages. The bigger the page, the slower the load times. It shouldn’t be a problem if the page is comprised of text, but large pages with lots of code will load slowly.

Cheer up if you have a speed problem! Yes, you’ve lost a lot of business, but now you can fix it. Most of your competitors will never figure it out. That puts you ahead of the game.

How To Post Your First Ebay Auction in Five Simple Steps.

March 5th, 2010 Comments off

Ebay is the internet&s largest marketplace, and it’s an excellent place for buyers to find what they want at bargain prices, and for sellers to find buyers. If you haven&t posted an auction on ebay before, It’s fairly simple to post your first auction on eBay. Just do the following five steps.

Step 1: Open an eBay seller’s account.

Obviously, this is the first thing you need to do . If you’ve bought things on eBay, then you already have an account – just log in with it and click ‘Sell’ in the toolbar at the top of the page, then click ‘Create a seller’s account’. If you’ve never used eBay before, then you’ll need to open an account first using the ‘register’ link underneath the toolbar, and then click ‘Sell’ and ‘Create a seller’s account’. The eBay site will then guide you through the process. For security, this may involve giving card details and bank information.

Step 2: Decide what to sell.

For your first little experiment with eBay, it doesn’t really matter what you sell. Take a look around the room you’re in – I’m sure there’s something in there that you’re not all that attached to and could put in the post. Small books and CDs are ideal first items. Once you get more used to how things work, try to indentify which market is right for you.

You need to consider two things in your market choice. The first is market size, which indicates how much demand exists for the products you’re considering to sell. Second, your personal intterest in what you sell. You must balance between those two factors to be successful.

Another thing I noticed on Ebay is what I call the Uniqeness Factor. What I mean by that is how unique are your offerings. If people see a lot of people selling the same item. They will tend to buy the cheapest, and that starts price wars between sellers. A smart seller chooses a smaller, more profitable niche to conquer. When you differentiate your offerings your profits and chances of making a sale will be higher. That’s why starting with your own things at home will be unique enough and wouldn’t cost you much for your first auction.

Step 3: List your item on Ebay.

Click ‘Sell’, and you’re on your way to listing your item.

Before you go ahead and list your item, look at some other existing sellers and learn from them. Notice how they layout their auction page, what keywords they use. Also note their starting prices and determine some of the startegies they use to attract bidders.

Next, choose a category – it’s best to just type in what the item is and let eBay choose for you. Next, write a title and description. Include key words you think people will search for in the title box, and all the information you have about the item in the description box.

Make sure you build an attractive and inforamtive auction page. Use pictures and headlines to highlight the benefits of your product. Answer as much questions a buyer might have as you can. Clearly state your refund, shipping and payment policies and contact information.

Now set a starting price. $0.01 is the best starting price, as it draws people in to bid who otherwise wouldn’t, and items will almost never finish at such a low price. The next thing to set is the duration of the auction: 3, 5, 7 or 10 days. This is up to you: longer sales will usually get more bids, but will also seem to drag on forever. If you’ve taken a picture, add it now – items with pictures always sell for more. Finally, tick the payment methods you will accept (just PayPal is best for now), and where you will post to (limit yourself to your own country to begin with). Submit and you’re done!

Step 4: Wait for it to sell.

This is just a matter of sitting back and letting eBay do its thing – buyers will find your item and leave bids on it. Some bidders might email you with questions about the item, and you should do your best to answer these questions as quickly as you can.

Remember that if your item doesn’t sell then you can list it again for free.

Step 5: Collect payment and post it.

eBay will sent your buyer emails guiding them through the process of sending you payment for the item. Make sure you have the money before you send anything.

Once you’ve got the payment, all you need to do is pack the item for posting (make sure to use some bubble wrap), take the buyer’s address from the confirmation email eBay sent you, and write it on the parcel. Put some stamps on, post it, and you’re done!

I hope you will enjoy selling your first item on Ebay.

Five Ways To Continually Grow Your Affiliate Checks

February 28th, 2010 Comments off

The promise of earning profits without really doing much of anything has enticed a lot of people towards affiliate marketing. But does affiliate marketing really work this way?

As an affiliate, all that is required of you is to simply place the merchant’s ad on your website. Then after that, you virtually do nothing but wait for anyone to click on the merchant’s ad and later collect your profits. Easy, right? Well, not quite often. Many affiliates earn almost nothing from their affiliate programs simply because they do nothing. Remember that affiliate marketing is but another form of marketing, and you’ll definitely need to market your merchant’s product for you to earn something.

Successful affiliates in any affiliate program simply don’t sit there and wait for money to come. Why? Because there is no money in simply sitting and waiting. If you want to be successful in affiliate marketing and if you want to continually grow your affiliate checks, you’ve got to do something. Think of ways on how to promote your merchant’s business and products better. Think of ways on how to induce other people to click on the link or ad provided to you by your merchant. Think of ways on how to make your affiliate sales increase!

So if you’re new in affiliate marketing and you try to follow the easy go lucky pit that most unsuccessful affiliate marketers follow, then you’re definitely on the wrong track. But we&re not advising you to stop right there. No. Rather, we want you to take some steps to make your affiliate program work better and gain more commissions for you. How? Here are a few guidelines that may help you to continually grow your affiliate checks:

1) Become an expert on your affiliate product.

You can promote your merchant’s product better if you know a lot of things about it. To become an expert, the best thing you can do is purchase your merchant’s product yourself. This way, you can tell your customers about your first-hand experience using the product. You can even write a testimonial or a personal endorsement ad about it. But if any condition does not permit you to purchase the product, you can at least make a thorough research about it.

2) Host your own website.

Or at least have a domain name that is short and easy to remember. You certainly wouldn’t expect a visitor to remember a very long and incomprehensible URL. And if that&s so, you also wouldn’t expect him to visit your website any time soon. That means less traffic for your page and the less chance for your affiliate ads and links to be clicked.

It is also a good idea to create a private website and offer access to it to anybody who clicks on any of your affiliate ads. Visitors usually get interested with these private websites. Private websites also gives you a venue to promote your back-end affiliate products.

3) Write your own affiliate ads.

Many merchants usually wouldn’t mind if you write and design your own ads for their products, for as long as you ask permission from them and present them your ad before posting it on your site. This gives you a greater advantage over a lot of other affiliates who must be advertising the same affiliate products.

4) Participate in chat rooms, discussion boards, and forums related to your product.

If you use to ignore them before, then it is time for you to start focusing your attention on them. You can start your own chat or join an existing chat related to your product. You don’t have to promote your affiliate product at once, but find the chance to advertise and promote it as you go along. The same would be true for message boards, discussion boards and forums.

5) Create a free ezine or newsletter.

Ezines and newsletters are periodical publications whose aim is to inform a group of people about a certain subject. In your ezines and newsletters, you don’t always have to promote your merchant’s product for this may greatly annoy your subscribers. Rather, find a way to insert your affiliate ads and links on some portions of the letter. Also, don’t forget to promote your ezine or newsletter on your website.

These are but a few guidelines on how you can increase your affiliate sales and continually grow your affiliate checks. Sure there can be a lot of other tips that out there, and if you think they would work, we won’t discourage you from following them. What’s important is that you be able to find a way to: attract more traffic to your site, induce your visitors to click on the ads on your site, and be able to promote your merchant’s products even outside the boundary of your website. If you can do these, there’s no reason for you to fail in affiliate marketing.

You Must Use The Right Key Words To Succeed In The SEO Game

February 5th, 2010 Comments off

Know what words your customers will use when searching.
You might know what your customers search for. If not, find out. Is it a description of “pants” or “jeans?” One may be searched more often than the other, but why not target both? How about “executive gifts?” Maybe “desk accessories” will broaden your web site marketing strategy.

Ask all kinds of people. Get advice from people in all walks of life including management, employees, customers, vendors, friends and family on how they would search for effective search engine positioning keywords. Ask them how they would search for different products and services. It’s really not about what you think they would search for, its about what they think. Believe me, they can many times be two totally different things.

Once you have successfully harvested a meaningful keyword list, remove any keywords that are too targeted or not to specific. Also remember that keyword placement is important. Try to put as many keywords as possible in the beginning paragraphs, and of course the title line.

The higher the value of the keyword the more competition you will have. Every SEO utilizes tools similar to the Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool and also know the value of a keyword. The lower the value of the keyword the less competition we will have.

We don’t want to aim to low but we also don’t want to aim to high. We need to find a middle ground. For you that may be a keyword with a value of no less than 1000 and no more than 10,000. It will be up to you to determine what you deem reasonable.

Also, the keywords should appear regularly throughout the opening Web page. It is especially important that they appear frequently in the opening paragraphs.
However, resist the temptation to overuse keywords. The search engines can spot it and will reduce your page rankings. Tools are available to help with optimal keyword density. However, avoid software that writes the site’s pages. Search engines can sniff these out, too.

A good rule of thumb is: Never sacrifice quality of content for keyword placement. This will affect your page ranking. Most importantly, your site won’t appeal to visitors. For a FREE EBOOK detailing the fastest way to the top of the search engine, visit:

How to Sell Your Products on eBay

January 30th, 2010 Comments off

Founded in September 1995, eBay is The World&s Online Marketplace for the sale of goods and services by a diverse community of individuals and small businesses. Today, the eBay community includes more than a hundred million registered members from around the world. People spend more time on eBay than any other online site, making it the most popular shopping destination on the Internet.

Did you know that most eBay sellers are full time workers in a huge variety of work domains? You may see eBay as a great opportunity to supplement your income, or you may see it as a modern form of a garage sale. Regardless of your views, you can make the most out of eBay’s offer and reach an extensive audience for whatever it is that you wish to sell.

Selling your product on eBay is a user friendly, simple process. The first thing that you need to do is to create your own free eBay account. In order to do this you need to provide the site with your credit or debit card number and your checking account information. You needn&t worry about security issues, as eBay has some of the most secure servers in the world.

The second step is to choose to have your fees deducted from your checking account with eBay Direct Pay or to pay for them with your credit card. EBay charges you an insertion fee, for each item you post for sale, and a final value fee when the item is sold. The fees are low and if the item isn’t sold you don’t have to pay the final value fee. In case you do not have a credit card you can still participate to the buying and selling activities on eBay by verifying your identity for $5.

When you eBay account is ready you will have to follow these steps: • Decide on your selling format. There are several ways to sell items on eBay and you will have to choose the one that suits your need best. • Select a category – place your ad in a relevant context for better exposure. Its like selling them in the right place inside a huge mall. People will likely to search at that category, just don’t forget to emphasize on categories. • Write a concise title. Titles sell the best, one-liners or what you think is best. You can make things appealing considering you have the merchandise; they can instantly pull of another sound made by cash registers on a sale. • Describe your item as clearly as possible. EBay users search of the best image for the merchandise, you can have to improve your camera skills to attract probable customers. And of course add photos of the item in all angles. This is a very convincing argument for most buyers as they will trust your product more when they get to actually see it. • Set your price and the duration of your auction. Having to decide on this might be a good idea when the bidding closes off, as some schemes let the possible buyers choose the buy it now option if the conditions apply, try to experiment on things that may entice them to actually buy the product at a high price. • Make your item stand out from the crowd by using the numerous listing upgrades. Upgrading your listing makes them fresh and on top of the competition. this is fairly optional, but if you have the time to update your list, might as well do them. • Enter Payment and Shipping Information and specify who will pay for the shipping and how your buyer will release funds for it. These conditions are critical to state. Often, confusing your prospects and make them walk away from the deal if you give them a horrible shipping condition. Try to build their trust; after all, what you really want is to sell your items.

The steps mentioned above will take only minutes to complete, making your eBay selling experience a pleasant one. You will be asked to review all of the information you provided and then submit it. Your eBay listing begins from that moment and you can start watching the buying process unfold.

Incentives In Affiliate Marketing

December 31st, 2009 Comments off

Affiliate marketing is probably the most effective means today of conducting Internet marketing for an online business. The affiliates create a buzz for the online business, and the products are promoted to thousands of Internet users. This is why an online business should have an affiliate marketing program as part of its marketing strategy.

To establish an affiliate marketing program, the online businessman needs to accomplish two steps. First, he should recruit as many affiliates as possible. The more affiliates, the more promotion for the products. And the more promotion, the more sales. Second, the online businessman should prepare promotional materials that must be sent to the affiliates.

When both steps are done, the businessman will find that his online company will have an increase in sales. Then, perhaps, the online businessman will just go with the flow and focus on product quality and product delivery. Or perhaps the online businessman can still push his sales further upwards. How can this be possible?

All that an online businessman needs to do is to develop and provide incentives for his affiliates. Here are four recommendations for such incentives.

1. Incentives for selling X worth of products within a limited period of time – The online businessman can offer cash incentives for affiliates who are able to convert their referrals into sales that reach a certain amount, perhaps $1500, within a certain period of time, perhaps within one month. When affiliates are aware of such an incentive, they will likely double their efforts so that they can meet the quota sales within the specified time frame.

2. Incentives for selling seasonal products – The online businessman can also offer incentives to affiliates who are able to sell seasonal products or products that are offered only during certain periods of the year. The cash incentive will go to the affiliate who can sell the highest worth of seasonal products.

3. Incentives for selling the highest worth of products during slow months – All online companies experience slow months. These are the times of the year when the sales are alarmingly low. But this can be overcome when the online businessman can offer incentives to affiliates who are able to generate sales during these slow months.

4. Additional commissions or bonuses for selling X worth of products – The online businessman can offer higher commissions to affiliates who are able to generate a specified amount of sales. That is, if the sales of the affiliate reach a certain bracket, the percentage of commission in the pay-per-sale set-up will be increased. This will encourage the affiliates to go for more sales.

SEO Guide to Choosing A Good Title For Your Homepage

December 26th, 2009 Comments off

If you have read anything about Search Engine Optimisation then you will already know how vital having a good and unique title on your web pages can be. It is by far the most heavily weighted element on your web page and overall your home page is given the greatest weighting so it is even more important to choose a very good title for your website homepage. In this article we explore how to choose a good title using SEO techniques to identify relevant keywords and phrases and how to string them together to form the best title possible.

What we are trying to achieve in this article is finding a title that describes the overall theme of the website, incorporates your main product or services and also is able to sell in a few short words; as this will be seen as the title in the search engine results pages. From an online marketing view point it is also important to consider company and product branding; it may be important to include the brand in the title of the page also. From a pure SEO perspective it is more important to have the product or service present as this what is more relevant to the search a person would do in a search engine.

Okay let’s consider how we identify keywords and phrases that are the most relevant to your product or service.

For these next tasks I always have a couple of firefox windows open and also a spreadsheet.

1. Open “Overture Inventory” keyword volume checker website in a browser. Type in the product or service and push enter. Copy the results into the spreadsheet.

2. Open “WordTracker” website in a browser, and either using the free trial or account, login to the website. Using the WordTracker wizard tool type in the same product or service you typed in step 1. Copy the results into the spreadsheet.

3. Open “Google Adwords” website in a browser. Locate tools->keyword tool and enter the same keyword we used in the previous 2 steps. Check the “Use synonyms” checkbox. Copy the results into selected keywords and click on the “Estimate Search Traffic” button. Copy the results into the spreadsheet.

4. Looking at the spreadsheet and we have three separate sections of data. Now go through each of the sets of data and weed out any unrelated phrases or phrases by deleting them.

5. Now sort the three sections by their individual search volume. Looking down through each of the lists, highlight the terms that are the most relevant and have the highest search volume. Aim to finish each list with about 10 keyword phrases.

6. Using the lists of keyword Phrases we are now going to start forming a sentence. We are aiming to have 4-11 word title. If the title is shorter then more relevance and weight is placed on the words contained within it. If it is longer then as we progress to the right less and less weight is given to each word so it is important to put your most important keywords to the left of the title.

Google also uses “spanning” on titles. Spanning is where words within a string can be skipped but are still considered relevant because the remaining words tie in with the search query. It is important to understand this technique before we begin. For example, the title on a webpage is “Web Site Design Melbourne”, someone searches in Google on “Web Design Melbourne” and the website would come up in the results because Google skipped the word “Site” in the title and still recognized that the web page was relevant to what was searched on. Using the leftward rule and spanning were looking to piece together a title that covers off as many of the possible high search volume terms as possible while keeping the title short and relevant.

So, after step 6 you should have formed a title. Implement it on your website and monitor how your website ranks for those keyword phrase terms. Keep track of this and it can be helpful when you are learning to experiment, move words around, reconstruct, shorten, lengthen, mix it up a bit and see how it all works. It is important to wait a long enough period of time between changes to ensure you are seeing some kind of reaction, otherwise you could be constantly making changes and not know whether it was the most recent change or the last one. Be patient, learn and track your websites rankings for keyword terms.

4 Steps To Flip a Website Successfully

December 21st, 2009 Comments off

Determining a profitable website is not easy especially if you are looking to flip it for higher profit within a short time frame. However, with the correct steps and procedures, it is possible even for a beginner to pick up a good site with great potential to start off.

The first step to determine if a website is worth the investment is by the number of income streams it has. Most websites have more than one income channel such as Pay-Per-Click advertisement (Google Adsense etc), Pay-Per-Action programs (AzoogleAds, ClickBank etc) or selling of own products. Basically, this step is to analyze the current profitable channels and see if you can expand or add in other sources of income. Never rely only on one income source for a website.

The second step is to find out where are the traffic coming from. Most websites should have a healthy amount of constant traffic from the search engines followed by social bookmarking sites or regular visitors. If the majority of the traffic is coming from the search engines, proceed to ask the owner what are the keywords that brought in the traffic. Try out the keywords in the search engines and check out the search engine rankings of the site.

You should also check with the owner what are the top search engines that direct the traffic to the site. With these information, check the on-page optimization effort of the site and you may have more ideas for improvements after you have bought it.

The next step is to highlight the areas of possible improvements of the site. If you can come out with at least two quick fixes to the site that can increase the value created to the visitors, the traffic to the site will increase to the next higher level eventually. For example, if you can include an online tool to calculate the financial networth of a person in a financial blog, that would most likely benefit all your readers in a long run.

The fourth step is to check for back links to the site that you are interested to purchase. It is highly recommended to use Yahoo backlink analyzer to check for backlinks since it displays almost all the pages that linked to the site. You may want to use the Yahoo powered analyzer at USESEO.com.

With the above four steps, you should have no problems choosing a profitable website that can generate a stable income for some time. You are advised to check on the seller’s history as well to know more about the seller’s background before confirming the transaction.

Affiliate Marketing – How To Get Started In 6 Easy Steps

December 8th, 2009 Comments off

Affiliate marketing is probably the simplest business model you can choose to build a business. Of course the devil is in the details, as they say, but the overall model can really be broken down into six steps.

Before we get to the steps, I want you to ask yourself a question. What do you hope to accomplish with affiliate marketing? This is an easier question to answer than it might seem. There are really only two basic choices here.

The first is what I call the “quick buck” choice. In other words, you want to make a few dollars quickly, and you are not interested in building a business. If this is you, all you need to do is learn how to write exceptionally good ads, and then use them to promote your affiliate product. Many people will say I am wrong, but there is nothing wrong with doing this, as long as you are honestly not trying to build a long term business this way.

On the other hand, if you are looking to build a business with income potential for the long term, then you will have a longer road ahead of you. It will take you longer before you see any profit from your efforts, but it will be worth it when you are able to take a day off, or even a week off, and still have sales in your absence.

These steps should be followed in order. If you try to go out of sequence, you will not get the results you are after.

1. Pick a Market

Why pick a market and not pick a product? Because you will eventually want to add additional products into your pipeline. You should pick a market that interests you, and maybe something you already know something about. Don’t forget that you are building for the long term.

2. Pick a Product

Once you have your market chosen, you should pick just one product to begin with. It will be very tempting to try to add all kinds of related products at first, but don’t. Having just one product will help you focus on the important tasks. You will want to pick a product that converts well. What this means is that the product sells to a high percentage of visitors. This will help keep your cost per visitor down and increase your profits.

3. Build a follow-up series

Also called an autoresponder series, you should build one based on the topic and the contents of the product you are promoting. If it is a physical product you are promoting, you will have to create or locate content that is directly related to the product. As an example, if you are selling golf clubs, you could create a series about how to buy golf clubs that fit, or the benefits of custom clubs, or even something about the club preferences of famous professional golfers. Be as creative as you can, and do not stray off topic. It has been said that most sales are not made in the initial contact, they are made on the seventh. If you are not following up with your prospects, the bottom line is you are losing sales.

4. Build an email capture page

This is where you will capture information about your prospects so you can send your follow-up series. If you are building a business, having your own web site is a necessity, if only because you will control the content, and be able to capture email addresses for yourself. You might be able to get by for a while without this, but it just isn’t worth it.

5. Drive traffic to your squeeze page

Until you are finished with step four, you shouldn&t even think about traffic techniques. If you don’t have anywhere to send the traffic, why worry about how to generate it in the first place. Depending on the traffic generation techniques you choose, it may take some time for you to start seeing sales in your program. You should spend this time developing one or two streams of traffic, and refining these techniques to help you drive more traffic with less effort.

6. Find additional related products

Once your business is making some money, it is time to start adding to your list of products. I don’t mean you should go out and sign up for every affiliate program that is even remotely related. What I do mean is that you should carefully choose an additional product or two, and add them into your pipeline. Because you have been building a list of qualified prospects, you will be able to market these new products to them. This is the really long term money maker for your business. As long as you continue to recommend good products to your customer list, you can continue to make money off of them, even the ones who have already bought your last product recommendation.

So these six steps are all you need to go from nothing to having a profitable business selling other peoples products. It can be easy to loose focus if you are not seeing immediate results, so keep your sights on the end goal of having a profitable business. You may also find it hard finding your initial market and product. Take your time and choose the best product you can. If the product you choose to promote is not good, your prospects will not continue to listen to your recommendations.

E-commerce Solutions For Your Business

November 15th, 2009 Comments off

Business on the internet is often referred to as E-Commerce. Some people do business completely through e-commerce. Their customers come from the internet, and they do all their communication on the internet. More commonly, businesses have both a brick-and-mortar storefront and an internet presence. This is often referred to as limited e-commerce. Almost any business, however, from large corporations to individual freelancers, benefits from a web presence. A website is a sign of your professionalism. It can be set up solely for the information value or, ideally, it can be designed to generate leads. A presence on the web shows that you understand today&s technology and the customer&s need for information. A good website shows customers why they would benefit from working with you.

E-commerce has grown into a revolution that currently involves almost every kind of business. It is now becoming unusual to learn of people who do not have internet access in their home, especially if they have school-age children. Almost every workplace uses the internet. People have learned to go first to the web when they want information, particularly when they want information on new products or information on how to increase their earnings. This tendency will only continue to grow, as children today are increasingly web savvy.

E-commerce also offers both price and time savings to individuals. As we become increasingly busy, it is quicker to go online to find products than to drive from store to store. Often the product is less expensive online, even after paying for shipping.

If you want to become involved in e-commerce, the first step is to find a good e-commerce webhost. Unless you are a sophisticated webmaster with an independent streak, look for an all-in-one provider that offers a feature-laden control panel and a wide range of templates. Though you can usually customize templates, you need to start with a variety from which to choose. A good wizard that walks you through the steps of constructing and using your site is also helpful. Ease of use is important so you can get your site up fast and professionally and make changes easily at a later date.

Your hosting service should have auto-responders for your clients and an easy way to make purchases. Even if you are selling only one product you want to make it as easy as possible for the customer to buy it. Check for the ability to import and export data. If you already have a database and choose a vendor that does not allow you to import it, you will have to retype everything. Export capabilities will save you time and trouble should you ever choose a new vendor.

When choosing a complete e-commerce solution for your business, look for hosts who offer a variety of marketing options, payment options for your customers, and automated shipping options. If the client cannot pay the way he wants, he will not buy. If shipping does not happen quickly, he may not become a repeat client.

Also look for an e-commerce solution that allows you to analyze traffic flow. In order for your business to grow, you need to see what kinds of marketing are bringing traffic and sales. You also need to look at such things as cost and customer service. Choosing the right hosted solution can take some time, but getting it right the first time is important. Take the time to choose a high-quality provider who will help your business to grow.

November 8th, 2009 Comments off

The Insiders Secrets of an eBay Millionaire” is a thorough study of the techniques to making a generous living on eBay. Derek Gehl and Brandon Dupsky have teamed up to produce a detailed eBay success system on how to navigate eBay, find the right products and enjoy profitable online auctions.

The only part that was difficult for me is the length of time it took to study and digest the material included. There is so much information you will probably have to revisit the books until they become second nature. Derek and Brandon’s claim that you will be up and running on eBay in the next 24 hours is a little ambitious. Take your time and really let the information sink in.

Let me supply a little background on Derek and Brandon. You may have heard of Derek Gehl CEO of The Internet Marketing Center, a company with over 40 million dollars in internet sales. Brandon Dupsky on the other hand tends to fly under the radar. He is a regular guy from Nebraska that started selling a few odds and ends from his garage. Brandon then turned the internet business into one with sales last year of 8 million dollars. These two guys know what they’re talking about. Derek convinced Brandon to spill his secrets on how to become an eBay entrepreneur and I found this a very enlightening learning experience.

This work is loaded with tips and tricks that anyone interested in eBay auctions as a hobby or a home business must have. It will show you how to start from nothing and expand into a profitable eBay business. Many people spend years learning what works and what doesn’t work on eBay. Derek and Brandon have drastically reduced the timeline it takes to become an eBay success.

The course materials are vast. Their heart is a 237 page manual and four audio-CD’s, all filled with useful tips on building an eBay business from scratch. Each audio-CD has a read along transcript with margin notes to build on key points. The margin notes are excellent since they highlight the most important topics that were addressed on each page. There are also four bonus CD-ROMs with tips on more advanced eBay buying selling techniques. These CD-ROMs answer the questions of how to attract lots of bids on your products, how to create stunning listings that bring bidders to your auction, and how to set up foolproof payment and shipping systems. These steps are crucial to establishing yourself successfully on eBay. If you already have an internet business, Derek and Brandon will show you how to tap into some of the 2,000,000 visitors who come to eBay each day.

“The Insiders Secrets of an eBay Millionaire” delivers on its promise to teach you all of the fundamentals needed in order to grow into an eBay expert. It logically and easily takes you through the steps, from finding a product to completing an auction. This resource will be something that you refer to time after time and I suggest you take notes as you go along.

If anything, you may have to read all of the books again before you will be able to absorb the subtleties of using eBay profitably. Brandon and Derek go into so much detail that I was amazed at what they revealed.

In Derek’s introduction, he tells you that you can’t afford not to have this information and I totally agree with him. For me, this was the ultimate source to learn more about eBay and I am making the most of it.

Some people have asked me if there was some way to improve on this product and I can honestly say NO. I was astounded about the secrets that I learned from Brandon because I have been selling on eBay since 1999.

The only question I have is how Brandon manages his various weekly auctions. I would have preferred an in-depth study on how he accomplishes this very involved task.

If you are interested in growing an eBay business, this is the comprehensive course you should have. I give it my highest rating. For more information on this subject please visit www.ebay-insidersecrets.com.
