Are affiliate programs good business opportunities?

September 30th, 2009 Comments off

Affiliate programs are great business opportunities, as well as a great business idea. Here’s the scoop. You join an affiliate company and they give you a unique URL called an, “Affiliate Link,” that only you have. When people click on your affiliate link it not only takes them to your affiliate website but it also alerts the affiliate company that you directed this person to their website. Now if that person makes a purchase you will be paid a commission as a reward for generating business for that company. Commissions can be as high as 75%! Dose that sound exciting to you? If so read on!

How can you find an affiliate program? There are literally 1000&s of websites eager for new affiliates. One way is to do a search for, “affiliate programs” using a search engine such as Google. Another way is to join ClickBank. ClickBank works with 100&s of affiliate companies. After you join ClickBank, You then choose from a list affiliates ClickBank is affiliated with. You then promote an affiliate link that is a combination of ClickBank’s and whatever affiliate site you are promoting. ClickBank then pays you instead of the company you are an affiliate for. You can also find a link usually labeled, “affiliates” on websites that have affiliate programs. You will usually find this link at the very bottom of the homepage in very small text size.

Depending on which Affiliate program you join they will pay you weekly, biweekly, monthly or bimonthly but most often biweekly or monthly. They will usually give you the option of how you will get paid via company check or Electronic Bank Transfer. I prefer Electronic Bank Transfer because payment is immediate and you don’t have to worry about your check getting lost or stolen.

The greatest thing about running an affiliate business in my opinion is this. When you run a business, any business whether it is internet based or not, you must deal with a host of things including, but not limited to, inventory, storage, packing, shipping, complaints, returns, phone calls, emails, checks and credit cards just to name a few. When you’re an affiliate, “they” take care of all of that for you! Your only job is to advertise for them. Once you have directed someone to your affiliate website via your affiliate link your job is done. They will take over from there. What could be a sweeter deal?!

Advertising your affiliate link can be accomplished in a number of different ways. Google AdWords is one way. Article submission is another way. There are 1000&s of Article submission sites where you can submit your articles to for free. As an example you can check out, IdeaMarketers. Click on the link at the upper right part of their homepage entitled, “Learn How This Site Works.” There are a number of ways you can find other article submission sites far too numerous to approach here, so I will only say that one way is to do a search using any search engine and typing in, “Article Submission Sites.” Another way to allow your affiliate link to be made known to the world is through discussion forums. One of the best out there is the AssociatePrograms.com forum. Discussion forums allow you to attach a signature file to the bottom of all your posts, where you may include your affiliate link.

All right. We’ve discussed all of the exciting aspects to joining an affiliate program like receiving commissions as high as 75%, not having to deal with inventory, storage, packing, shipping, complaints, returns, phone calls, emails, checks or credit cards etc., getting paid most often biweekly or monthly and usually having your choice of payment via check or Electronic Bank Transfer. We also discussed, how to advertise your affiliate link using little or no money. Now it is up you. Dose having an affiliate business sound good to you? If so find, join, and promote your affiliate business and/or businesses using the techniques discussed here. And remember, affiliate programs are fabulous business opportunities as well as a great business idea!

How To Know Which SEO Software Tool Suits Your Search Engine Optimization Needs?

September 15th, 2009 Comments off

Search engine optimization has become the most crucial element of ranking high in the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, Altavista, Dogpile etc. There are several websites on the internet which boast about SEO techniques and tips and guarantee top placement in days. How do you believe and invest your hard earned money in a company who does not have a background in search engine optimization believing their claims?

The question is “are you ready to play a gamble with your site?” Honestly the answer would be a big NO.

No one would like to waste their money. So, what is the way out? How about doing your own search engine optimization? It is a very long drawn and tedious process if you do it manually. So, how to go about it?

Are there any softwares available to do the SEO?

Yes! there are several SEO softwares available in the market. But, how do you know which SEO software is reliable and meet your search engine optimization needs and most importantly, whether they would live up to their claims?

SEO software is the answer to implement the major SEO techniques. What are they? SEO is primarily divided into two parts.

• On page optimization
• Off page optimization

On page optimization

On page optimization involves:

• Title Tags
• Meta Tags like meta keywords (lost its importance now due to keywords abuse) and meta description.
• Alt-Image tags
• H1, H2 tags
• High keyword density
• Quality content
• Ease of navigation
• Internal Linking and more…..

Off page optimization

Off page optimization involves:

• Link Building to improve Link popularity
• Reciprocal Linking – Two way links
• Non-reciprocal linking – In-bound links
• Use of keyword rich anchor text in linking text
• Improving Google page rank
• PPC advertisements
• Directory submissions

It is a well known fact that off page optimization has more value than on page optimization. It does not mean that on page optimization has no value and requires no optimization. On page optimization has its value and should not be ignored.

There are several SEO softwares available to implement the off page optimization by improving link popularity by building both reciprocal and non-reciprocal links. There are websites which offer monthly membership accounts to use their Link Popularity software and some other websites have their software available for one time fee. For a beginner it is always better to go with one time fee software to keep the fixed expenses low. You are here to do business so you need to think and plan every dime you spend towards business success.

So, what to expect from a SEO software selling website?

• Not a one time seller without any future upgrades
• A website with good technical support
• A website with a proven track record
• A website with a forum with quality user feedback
• Most importantly these website’s SEO software should have good product reviews.

We see many SEO software companies doing their own product reviews and it looks more like self propaganda than an honest product review. We need websites who test and verify the claims made by the SEO software companies and publish their honest feedback. This would help the newbie website owners to make an educated decision after reading the detailed unbiased analysis published on a third party website.

There are very few websites that do this and should be encouraged to test and verify more of these SEO softwares and help the website owners to learn and implement the off page optimization techniques. This would save time and money of the online entrepreneurs to improve their link popularity and increase their search engine rankings. Higher search engine rankings bring more traffic to the websites and hence more sales. It is a known fact that we can drive visitors to websites but converting them into buyers totally relies on how effective is the content and ease of website’s navigation.

We should develop effective content in the form of relevant articles linking to your website. Writing an effective article is a skill which needs to be developed by reading other articles and other e-books focusing on writing best articles. Now we should know the list of quality article directories to submit to in the right category. This would be another tedious and time consuming process and this demands an SEO software whose sole aim is article submission to various article directories.

Submitting to SEO friendly directories is another tedious process but the rewards worth the effort involved. The list of SEO friendly directories and the article directories is available at http://www.seo-softwares.com/Resources.html

Another way of getting traffic to the website is thru PPC i.e Pay Per Click. There are several PPC programs available like Google Adwords, Overture PPC, FindWhat etc. Now the question is choosing the right keyword relevant to the content of your website is very important. You might choose the right keyword which is highly competitive and may have to pay a high bid price to get the higher placement in the sponsored links. We need an SEO software to optimize the adwords campaign to choose the right keyword combo to choose for the PPC. This would save money and time and helps beat the competition.

There are several other effective methods to do the off page optimization and there are several SEO softwares available in the market. So, in conclusion read the product reviews, and see the important features of the selling website as mentioned above for the final decision as which SEO software you should get your hands on.

Wishing you all success in your website’s search engine optimization.

Web Directories For SEO

September 8th, 2009 Comments off

If you are looking for ways to promote your website, than web directories should definitely be considered a big part of your promotional plan. Web directories provide web visitors with a one- stop destination on the web to find the information they are looking for. Further, in using web directories, you can increase the visibility of your website and derive myriad benefits offered by web directories.

Let’s take a look at the benefits that webmasters derive from web directories:

1. Some webmasters might wonder why they should bother to submit to web directories when 80% of all website traffic comes from search engines. The answer is simple when you consider the following: what about the other 20%? When you are attempting to maximize the traffic that comes to your website, every little bit of promotion helps and web directories can help you gain a big chuck of that 20% of web traffic you have been missing out on.

2. Did you know that a key factor in the ranking algorithm of search engines is link popularity? By using web directories you will be creating more links that point directly to your site and the higher your ranking becomes in various search engines across the Internet. Further, everyone knows that a higher search engine ranking is equivalent to easier accessibility and easier accessibility equals more traffic for your website.

3. The first way to increase your link popularity is to include keywords in your hyperlinks. When you submit to web directories, the links you submit should not only lead to your site, but also should possess themed keywords within the links. The themed keywords will not only make your site easier to find, it will also increase the rating of your links in various search engines—again getting more, free web traffic for you.

4. Links that are created within web directories are votes for a site and they use your keywords within your hyperlinks to associate your link with certain key phrases. As such, the keywords you select are extremely important because they determine how often your links will be pulled up whenever a key phrase is associated with your created links. Therefore, It is a good idea to research the most popular keywords associated with your website theme before submitting your website to various web directories: the most popular keywords can make all of the difference in the world.

5. If you are submitting to various web directories, there are a few things that you need to consider. First, for a directory to be valuable, the pages you submit your listings to must, at minimum, be listed in various search engines. For instance, if you submit your links to a web directory that doesn’t appear in any search engines, chances are web visitors will not only have difficulty finding your website, but they will also have extreme difficulty finding the web directory you have listed your site in. In such cases, the listing in the web directory is a fruitless endeavor. Conversely, if you list your web site in several popular web directories and you utilize keywords in your hyperlink and short website description, you greatly increase the visibility and accessibility of your website.

6. The second consideration you must keep in mind when submitting to web directories is that when you are submitting your hyperlinks, you will derive the most benefit from submitting to directory pages that have a comparable theme to your website. For instance, if you have a website that is based on credit cards you will find that you get more web traffic from a web directory page that focuses on credit cards. Thus, when searching for web directories, look for web directories with topics that parallel the central focus of your website.

7. Here’s a quick tip for you that can help you derive the most benefit from listing your hyperlink in web directories: watch out for Google Adwords as these are a good indicator of how Google at least categorizes the page. In other words, if you mirror your hyperlinks and descriptions to appear much like those seen in Google ads, you will more than likely increase your search engine ranking as well as your listing in various web directories.

8. In order to be successfully listed in any web directory, you will need to conform to the terms and conditions of the directory. Typically, web directories list a series of specific listing regulations that you must adhere to and it would pay for you to adhere to them. In addition, to improve the chances of your listing being accepted you should try to avoid promotional language and you should choose a category that is as close to your website theme as possible.

9. Webmasters have much to look forward to in terms of web directory posting. In fact, the next generations of web directories are now appearing that allows business card type pages. Not only do webmasters get the opportunity to post a short description of there website, but now they are afforded the opportunity to display their logo and contact information as well. Such offerings prove to be particularly appealing because eye catching logos and easy contact information will make a Webmaster’s website that much more appealing.

10. In the end, web directories are a valuable part of your web promotional program and should not be overlooked in terms of their value. Along with the use of search engines, and article databases, a Webmaster will be pleasantly surprised at the free advertising available on the Internet. Finally, the increase in web traffic that webmasters will reap is truly astonishing indeed.

Tips To Help Your To Higher Adsense Earnings

September 7th, 2009 Comments off

In this article I give advice about ways in which you can increase the amount you earn from Google adsense. I run adsense on a number of my sites and it is proving to be a very good form of second income. Many other people are now putting the code onto their own sites which can help them to pay for hosting and domain renewal costs.

Should you run adsense on your website?

In my opinion there are many positive reasons to have these google ads on your website but there are also reasons why you may not want them on there. On the positive side you are of course likely to earn money when people click on one of the ads, this can be a useful income, however unless you have either a high traffic site or a large number of sites, you are unlikely to get rich from it.

On the negative side when people click on one of the ads it is actually taking away that visitor from your site. If you are offering a service it therefore probably is not worth signing up for adsense for that site. If the site is purely for information purposes I would say that it is worth adding the code.

How to increase your adsense earnings

There are many ways in which you can blend the adverts into your website by choosing a particular colour for the ads as an example. Placement of the ads is also quite important and there is information on the Google site which advises where to put the adverts for maximum impact.

I believe the best way to increase your earnings however is to get more traffic to the website. There are many ways of doing this:

Google adwords

You can create an advertising campaign using google adwords. You could opt to pay near enough the minimum fee per click and this will keep the costs down. People will then visit your site and hopefully click on one of the other ads, therefore making you money.

This can work very well for certain subjects, but not so well for others. It is a matter of trial and error, I always run the adwords for around a month and then evaluate if it is worth carrying on after that point.

It is obviously important that we do not spend more on our own advertising, than we are likely to earn.

Purchase a text link ad

This is becoming more and more popular as one way backward links are becoming ever more powerful in the eyes of the search engines. These type of links are however quite hard to come by.

By purchasing a text link advert you are likely to have an increase in web traffic from two avenues. Firstly from the advert itself and also from the page rank value of the backward link.

At articles-submission.com you are able to purchase nine of these permanent backward links for only £50, which includes a link on a page rank five page.

Writing articles

Writing articles can also help you to obtain more visitors to your site. The people who read the article are potential visitors, you also obtain a one way backward link from the article directory which you submit the article to, and other webmasters may also include the article on their own site, thus creating another one way backward link. These backward links help to increase your overall page rank. The higher the page rank, the more traffic you should receive.

Link exchange

Exchanging links with other websites which are hopefully in the same business sector as your own, also has value. These links are not as powerful as the one way links mentioned above but are still worth seeking.

You can e-mail or phone other webmasters to ask if they would be happy to swap links with your site.

Build a site network

If you have the time and available funds you could also consider building a network of sites, all on the same theme. Each of the sites in the network would have a link pointing to the main site. They could also have adsense on the sites thus increasing your earnings in a two-fold manner.

I hope this article helps you in your quest to increase your adsense earnings.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) – An Overview

August 27th, 2009 Comments off

Run a search on any of the 200 major search engines, and the results will come up in similar orders on quite a few of them. How a website owner/operator gets their website to the top of a list is called Search Engine Optimization, or SEO. Optimizing a website involves many of the same techniques, whether the aim is to optimize for Google adwords, Yahoo, Ask Jeeves or others. There is a list of what not to do as well, and that list is applicable to all engines, as it mostly refers to tricks and hacks unscrupulous designers use to try to trick the engines. These kind of pages generally get removed by automated tools and don’t generally last very long, so they are not recommended to bother with.

Website optimization starts with content. If the content is irrelevant, the website will not last long in the rankings, no matter how many keywords are included. The best way to get relevant content is to get an expert to write the content. General content may be more friendly to beginners, but in the search optimization arena, content is what is going to keep readers coming back and webmasters linking to the page. Many search engines use link counters to rank sites. If enough people like and value the site, they will link to it from their own site as an example of expert help for visitors seeking more detailed information than they can provide, or are willing to provide. Often, general-interest sites will link to expert sites, thereby also driving their own traffic up as the initial portal to those expert sites and improving their own rankings in the optimization listings. The quality of the sites linked is also a major factor in the rankings, as quality sites such as Microsoft and Google are going to be more effective “heavy hitters” than a link to Bob’s House of Website Optimizing.

When the content is being created, keywords are the “anchors” that search engines hook onto, but just filling your content with keywords risks being dismissed as a spam site, as many spammers merely fill a page with keywords, hoping to hook anyone searching for anything. These kind of pages are usually removed quickly, but they exist nonetheless. Specific keywords are the key–instead of Search Engine, use Search Engine Optimization for Google, or combinations of the key words or phrases. Optimization for Search Engines in one area, then Optimizing for higher Search Engine rankings in another increases the chances of an engine ranking your website content a little higher than it may have otherwise.

The guidelines for content also go for Meta tags such as the title. Title is very important, as it is one of the bigger spots for an engine to catch, as well as the hook that draws a surfer in once the rankings have been displayed. A recommended length is 50-80 characters (including spaces), with keywords located near the beginning in case the window is resized on the screen. A good example would be “Search Engine Optimization tips and tricks for Google”, instead of “How to do important SEO for websites.”

Search Engine Optimization–what to avoid: Don’t use huge strings of keywords without relevant content–you may be labeled as a spammer and blacklisted off the engine(s) you’re trying to climb. Stay away from pop-ups, excessive load times (by keeping the page clean and using fast hosting servers), and lots of flash animation, as this takes time to load and also detracts from the readability of the site.

More specific information can be found by typing “Search Engine Optimization” into any major search engine like Google or Yahoo and following the links. Good luck!

Affiliate Programs – Discover How To Find the Right Products

July 28th, 2009 Comments off

Of course, you can promote your own products or services if you have ones. This is the best option to succeed because this way you receive a 100% profit of what you sell. Another way is to buy resale rights, promote the products using AdWords and keep all the profits too.

However, majority of us do not have our own products or services. Therefore, we can join various affiliate programs and promote them. However, what programs to join?

Picture this… You have selected an affiliate program that looked promising to you; you researched your keywords and set up AdWords campaigns. You wait for your profit to roll in…

You spend $10, then $50, then $100 on the AdWords advertising and still do not see a single sale…

Does sound familiar?

It happens to the majority of new advertisers after they run their first AdWords campaigns. In addition, you probably think that making money with AdWords is just another swindle and it does not work.

Well, there can be many reasons why there was not a single sale made. Moreover, one of the reasons may be — *affiliate product selection*.

The online ebooks like GoogleCash and GoogleAdwords123 have excellent sections about how, where and why to select one or another affiliate program to advertise using Google AdWords.

When choosing a profitable product you have to check sales letter carefully, product owners should pay high commissions, place lifetime cookies on visitors& browsers, etc.

However, what I couldn&t find in any of the e-books that I have read so far is that you should promote two-tier or residual income (with lifetime commissions) programs.

When you promote your affiliate links, you need to know two very important things about two tier programs:

1. You will earn big money on every direct sale you make.

2. You will make even more money when people use it to sign up under you and start promoting it! Imagine an entire army of several 100&s, each selling the affiliate products – this would mean 100&s of commissions for you, altogether equalling $ 1,000&s in your pocket every month!

Good examples of residual income affiliate programs are hosting companies. My websites, for example, are hosted at Host4Profit:

http://tny.se/9P

Host4Profit offers killer tools at an affordable price and is easy to handle.

If only you could recruit several of customers for two-tier or residual income products or services, you could make thousands lifetime.

Therefore, for locating the affiliate niche market, first think about the topics, you are interested in. For example, this could be:

Sports -> Specifically: Soccer
Pets -> Dogs -> Dog Pictures
Cooking Indian Cuisine -> Curry recipes

And so on. Notice how we have broken down those main categories into sub-categories. Now this could be taken further and further…

Soccer -> Learning foot tricks
Dogs -> Dog Pictures
Curry Recipes -> For the lactose intolerant (curries contain a lot of cream!)

This is niche thinking in action.

Do not get stuck on too broad niche categories. Most new affiliates face this common mistake!

After you have found your niche, you should examine if an affiliate product already exists for this niche. Remember first to look for the two-tier or residual income affiliate programs.

If you cannot find one, another option is the Clickbank catalog:

http://tny.se/9Q

Act now; select your target niche, an affiliate program and implement the strategy that we just talked about. This is what super-affiliates do. They implement new ideas immediately.

Driving Traffic Using Google Adwords

July 26th, 2009 Comments off

Extremely directed traffic is among the most crucial entities in the internet world. Any website proprietor or administrator realizes the importance of driving traffic to a website. The success from any website doesn’t trust entirely on the site itself. You might have a fantastic idea for a website, offer an first-class merchandise or service, or have an exceptionally planned site with superior content, simply if you don’t apply the proper strategies to advertise, your site would not draw the high traffic you require. Appealing targeted traffic is a job that had better be taken severely for any site to succeed or have a income. Fortunately, there is internet-marketing tools that assist the website marketer to drive traffic to his website. Among the most important, and effective, of these tools is Google&s Adwords. Adwords is one of Google&s advertising services.

How does Google Adwords work? Google comprises the biggest search engine on the web getting over 200 million queries every day through its several services. Since Google is the most favourite search engine today, webmasters are sharp on having their websites reach a higher ranking in the search engine leads it provides. A high ranking could mean high traffic for that website. The search engine results page is as well a extraordinary venue for advertisers to promote a product or service through ads and links. Consequently, Google established its Adwords service, as a way for businesses to advertise products and services to a targeted audience. Google Adwords can assure instant traffic. In this service, Google shows relevant text based ads inside its search engine results page termed as “Sponsored Links”. Whenever a specific keyword is searched on, these relevant links come out in a separate section giving excellent exposure to the sites listed.

How do you use Google Adwords? First of all, you have to open an account with the Google Adwords Service. Then, you should suggest your object language and country. This is all-important for you would not need your products advertised in countries where your merchandise or service can’t be sold. Afterwards, you should instantly create an ad group. This calls for designing the ad, choosing keywords and determining highest cost per click that you are willing to spend and defining bid amounts. The most important step in producing a successful Adwords campaign is choosing an effective title tag that will catch the attention of your objective audience. The title tag, generally a short phrase, is the most important part of your Adwords campaign so make sure that it is attractive and catchy. You should describe the website clearly and precisely. The most effective advertising brings a clear message to the target audience. With a clear message, you will be attracting qualified leads, which can eventually become a sale. Therefore, the importance by choosing the right keywords can’t be overstressed.

There are keyword variations you’ll be able to adapt to reach more prospects. Applying these varieties, misspellings and derivatives can help gain the chance of your ads being served. Broad match is targeting keywords in a loosely defined manner. Here, the ads appear based on the keywords that have been queried by other users as opposed to exact match, which calls for the keyword to match the query exactly. Meanwhile, a keyword phrase set to phrase match will only appear when the exact phrase is searched on. A negative keyword is helpful in filtering unrelated pages.

After you have chose on what title tag to use in your ad, you must now define a budget in order to maximize exposure. Google Adwords recommend a daily budget for each campaign. However, you should determine a budget that is suitable and affordable. You should as well decide the maximum CPC. Google will propose a recommended cost per click, but you do not have to stick with this. Usually, a number one position is not ideal as it can also attract unwanted traffic and useless clicks. A number two position is more preferred as it can filter useless clicks and provide traffic with a higher conversion rate.

To close, Google Adwords is an excellent strategy and tool in establishing your site maximum exposure. However, Google Adwords shouldn&t be your sole advertising campaign. It will definitely help you find the essential, highly targeted traffic you need.

With proper web hosting reseller plan, you will only require just a little knowledge in maintaining user accounts, and focus on marketing work to sell more hosting account and generate good revenue from it.

When talk about reseller hosting, we always consider the profit margin. Its always the biggest concern, and we always asked ourselves how much should we earn to have good income. Frankly speaking, having 10 customers will not give you good income. This is real world business and I really mean serious business.

This is one of the best reseller hosting I ever come across, and more details found here http://www.hostgatorreview.org/hostgator/hostgator-reseller/ about hostgator reseller plan.

Alternative marketing strategy is to invite friends or business partner to use your hosting plan, offering web design serviceS & Hosting services, join web hosting forums and promote your hosting plan, put advertisement through google adwords or other PPC network. And there is lots more marketing strategy that you can think of.

When your hosting company is new, focus on generate revenue. The more revenue you got, the faster you can grow. Once you are ready, upgrade your reseller plan and you can sell even more.

Affiliate Programs And SEO

July 24th, 2009 Comments off

While good SEO skills will get your page noticed by search engines by themselves there other tricks to help increase their effectiveness. Affiliate programs can be a good way to increase your website’s own SEO attributes. There are different types of affiliate programs. An older one would be the old banner concept which predates pay-per-click. Google’s Adwords is a modern incarnation of this where by people can profit from Google’s pay-per-click business. Let’s look at some of these.

Not all affiliate programs have to be for profit. There are many people who are just looking to get traffic to their sites by cooperating with other sites. Just as a strong page on your website can help increase the rankings of your other pages rankings on affiliates’ sites can do the same. Don’t confuse affiliates with guest books or link pages. An affiliate is working with some kind of service or business to make a profit so it is a function of commerce. This will help with the search engines’ rankings. Search engines look for link pages and don’t give them a very high ranking so they wouldn’t help you very much. However since affiliate pages are used for commerce they are going to have a much stronger ranking. Affiliates can act as a team just like the pages on your site.

Another point to consider is that pages that are involved with affiliate programs are going to be set up well in order to profit from them. So this is analogous to strong members of a team making a colossal team effort. Enough strong pages driving traffic to your site is lie diverting a river to a drought stricken town.

Fortunately affiliate programs are easy to find so just keep in mind what kind you would be willing to do for your site. Don’t give yourself more work than you need to.

How To Market Your Ebay Business.

July 14th, 2009 Comments off

So you want to market your eBay business? Well, you probably won’t have too much luck with traditional marketing methods – they’re just not targeted enough. The best way to do things is to pay for targeted advertising, which comes up when people search for keywords you specify: they’re looking for exactly what you’re selling, and so many of them will click on your ad.

On eBay.

You might not have noticed that eBay offer this kind of advertising, but they do. You can pay them for a small ad that will appear above the search results (next to the banner ad) for any keywords you want. Buyers will then be able to click through and get to your eBay store – and you only pay for clicks, not for views. You can also set a budget for how much you want to spend, and your ads will simply stop if they go over-budget.

If you do this, it is best to create very targeted ads for specific products. Buy a specific model of something as your keyword, and write how much you sell it for in the ad – this will be more effective than just advertising across the name of a whole category.

There are some products that this approach simply doesn’t work for, though, and you might be better off spending your money on a more visible Featured Plus listing for your item, especially if you’re trying to advertise on valuable keywords.

Search Engine Ads.

If you want to market your business more widely, then you can try to bring in business from outside eBay. The best way to do this is by buying keyword-targeted ads on search engines. With Google AdWords, for example, your ad will appear in their ‘Sponsored Links’ section when someone searches for your keywords. Again, you set a maximum budget and only pay for clicks.

This can be very effective, as you’ve just taken your products to the world outside eBay – imagine someone going to a search engine, typing in what they’re looking for and seeing your store right there! What’s more, if you target this approach to specific models of a product it can be very cheap. Most advertisers try to get as much traffic as they can instead of targeting their ads as specifically as you will be, meaning there won’t be much competition for the keywords.

eBay benefit from this as well as you, since it drives new buyers to eBay as a whole, not just to your site. They actively encourage sellers to go and advertise on search engines by offering you 75% of your final value fee back for each item that someone finds and buys this way. On expensive items, that’s probably enough to pay for the advertising to begin with!

If you’d really like to try a little marketing in the real world, though, you might want to make some flyers. Did you know that eBay can do this for you automatically? The next email will tell you how.

The Value of Finance and Debt Related Domain Names

July 13th, 2009 Comments off

Why domain names can be a good investment!

We have a number of generic finance related domain names and have recently added to these through the £14,000 investment in debtconsolidation.co.uk and the purchase of debtfree.co.uk.

It’s true that debt consolidation is one of the hottest terms especially in respect of PPC’s and we believe we will get free traffic from people guessing the domains when they are looking for debt consolidation or debt free i.e. people that are looking for debt consolidation will enter debtconsolidation.co.uk in the toolbar rather than searching for debt consolidation on a search engine. Both debt consolidation and debt free are amongst the most searched for terms on the internet and you would therefore expect a percentage of people looking for these terms to guess the domain. Many domain investors use the overture search rank as a key to the potential value of a generic domain. i.e. if a lot of people search for a term then a smaller proportion will second-guess what the domain name will be.

A good generic domain name can also help with search engine placement. Approximately 12 months ago debtconsolidation.co.uk used to be at the top of google for debt consolidation but someone must have failed to renew! www.debtconsolidation.co.uk is already on the 1st page of msn.co.uk for debt consolidation out of 17,265,739 results. Debt Consolidation is a very hard term to get to the top of especially only after website was launched 2 weeks ago. (Website is still temporary!). So I believe domain name has played a big part in it. This seems especially true for msn. Try searching for debt consolidation loans on msn and look at all the domains that are top! Only 1 in the Top 10 doesn’t have debt consolidation loan in the domain name!! That’s the beauty and the value of a generic domain!!

A domain name can also be of use through pay per click advertising (PPC). We advertise extensively through google adwords and what we have found is that the domain can have a direct effect on your Click through ratios (CTR’s) and hence the amount you need to pay per click. We advertise on google and where the domain is similar to the search terms you generate significantly more traffic (hence why espotting (miva) insist you include the search term in your title).

When you are valuing a domain for a business as well as looking at how much people will pay for a PPC it is also worth looking at how much they will pay for a successful application. This is really where the true value can be seen.

We are therefore confident that generic domain names (that are business related) are definitely good investments for the future and it’s wise to buy before others realise it too! We will definitely be looking for new ones that come available.

I think some of the bigger companies aren’t on the same page yet. It is too difficult to get approval for a purchase off someone who doesn’t understand the potential value. Often they also outsource their internet advertising so there is no one in the business that understands the internet.

So to summarise a domain name can have considerable value if it is able to generic free relevant traffic to your website. Also as the internet grows and users become more sophisticated in how they search then we would expect the value of domain names to increase further.

5 ways how to be successful by selling online

July 11th, 2009 Comments off

Are you selling online? You are maybe looking for some solutions how to succeed in your business. There are several ways how to get more clients and earn more money. In this article I will introduce you some of them.

1. Affiliate marketing:
Affiliate marketing consist in relationship between web site owners and merchant. Web site owners put merchants advertisement (usually text link or banner) on their page and merchant pays commission from each deal to the site owner. The advantage of this promotion method is the fact that you can never loose your money for inefficient advertising because you pay only in case you earn some money. If you want to start your own affiliate program you can buy one of many available scripts or use some of affiliate networks like Link Share or Commission Junction.

2. Search engine optimization (SEO):
Search engine optimization is one of the most effective (and one of the hardest) ways how to get the large number of very good targeted customers. If you are a search engine optimization specialist, make a SEO analysis and optimize your web site for some effective keywords. If you know nothing about SEO try to find some basic information on Internet and optimize for easy keywords or hire some SEO company. The advantage of search engine optimization is the fact that you get the visitors who want to buy the goods (or services) which you offer. The disadvantage is the long time necessary for successful optimization.

3. Pay per click (PPC):
There are several search engines offering pay per click program. Advertiser choose the keyword and the bid. If the visitor search for this keyword, advertisements targeted for this keyword are displayed. If more advertisers select the same keyword the advertisements are sorted by the bid (except google AdWords, there the advertisement position depends on the bid and click rate). The big advantage of pay per click system is the fact that you can start your campaign during a few minutes.

4. Banner exchanges:
You include a HTML code to your web site and each time somebody visits the site where the HTML code is placed a banner will be displayed and you get some credits (usually 1/2 – 1 credit depending on the exchange ratio). For each credit you “earn” your banner will be displayed on another banner exchange members page. This type of promotion is good for branding but it will increase your traffic just about 0,1 – 1 % only (depending on click rate of your banner) so always combine this method with another strategies.

5. Promotional coupon codes:
Everybody is happy for a free gift or some discount and a lot of online marketers take advantage of this fact. So why don’t make your customers happy too? There are many promotional coupon code directories on Internet. Put your coupon code to most of these web sites. Try combination of promotional coupon codes strategy and affiliate marketing. Give away to your publishers promo codes or special affiliate link. If the visitor click this link he gets some discount, free gift, free shipping or another benefits.

The Basics of Blogging and Web Site Creation – Part One: Content Is King

July 9th, 2009 Comments off

My fellow writers at the Absolute Writers Forum (known lovingly as the AW Water Cooler or just Cooler) are the reason for these next series of articles so I wish to thank them.

In the next few series of articles, I will try and deal with some of the very basic technical jargon and skills that one needs when facing this daunting world of web-site creation, blogging and getting listed and noticed by the Search Engines. Some of this I take from things I posted at AW and others from my own articles on Web Creation and still others from my own blog, Cobwebs Of The Mind.

Let us start with the few important factors that are required today on the web. There are quadrillions of articles on this, most very poorly written, but the message is always the same.

On the web today, “content is king”. But that is not all their is to that rule. Let us change it a bit to fit the reality of the web, search engines, and the sophisticated algorithms being deployed by the search engine trinity of: Google, Yahoo and MSN.

“Content is King, but Original Content is the King of Kings.”

Okay – that is the first cardinal rule you MUST understand about the web today. Now what does this mean?

There are essentially three factors in this equation:

1. You must have content – words, phrases, information – on your web site.

2. You should have “original” content on your web site. This is content which either you have created or have gotten permission to reproduce on your web site. It should be “original”. Copying content from a web site, and putting it in your blog, where that content has been reproduced in thousands of other web-sites, is not going to help your Google ranking (and you may even be penalized for it.) This does NOT mean that everything, every single phrase and post and article you put up on the web has to be original and not repeated elsewhere. What it does mean though, is that the majority of your web site or blog should be just that – YOURS.

3. Your content should constantly grow. You should be adding to it on a daily or bi-daily basis. Stagnant blogs and web sites are noticed for being stagnant – dead. They drop so fast in Search Engine (search engine) rankings you have no clue! Web sites demand nurturing and work. They do NOT run on auto mode. (Just look at how much time you spend with your blog!)

Now as to why and how.

Search Engines look for content. They have developed very sophisticated algorithms to check content. To see if this content is original, or they are coming across the millionth time they have seen the same thing. This is all mathematical btw. And this is NOT the only thing they look that. (We will get to those other things in our next posts). However, Content is critical. Lets give two examples.

1. Ever notice how fast some popular Forums get indexed in the Search Engines. This is due to the fact that they have an incredible amount of page hits, and that they exist for POSTS. Posts on forums are ORIGINAL for the most part. So engines look for the Content, forums have this, they list them, they see original content – the forum moves up the list, and thus more people find the forum in the search, more people hit the forum pages, more “hits” and “eyeballs” are registered back on the Search Engine servers, and the forum keeps on moving up. The more hits – by mathematics – the more posts. The more posts the more original content. The more original content the better the listing. The better the listing – the more people find the forum. Getting the picture? A never-ending circle of success.

2. For those of you in doubt as to whether Search Engines can “read” content just take a look at Adsense and Adwords. When you go to a site with them, adverts are fed out based upon the: 1: Content of the page you are on, and 2) Your IP address to determine which country and language you speak. Since I am in Israel, I am never surprised if I hit a site say that is discussing a topic and has adsense, and though this site is totally in English and geared to people in New York City, some of the adsense adverts are in Hebrew based upon the content of the page I am on. The algorithm finds key words (more on those later) and feeds out the adverts.

So our first lesson on Search Engines and ranking and all that good stuff is about Content. Remember the rule.

“Content is King, but Original Content is the King of Kings.”

The ‘Hidden’ Secrets of Internet Marketing for You

July 5th, 2009 Comments off

For many years, we depend on our TV sets, radios, newspapers. But when the internet was born, everything has changed, almost overnight.

Since then, the internet has become a major part of our lives. It has become indispensable because we consider it as the biggest source of communication and information for us. More than 800 million people all over the world are using the internet to listen to music, to shop for clothes, get directions, and much more.

But the internet is being used for more than just personal reasons.

It has also become an important work tool. Often, people go online to seek for information because the internet holds unlimited information on virtually every possible thing you can think of. But the most popular is to conduct a business and make business decisions.

Because people go online to do their shopping, many are into internet marketing. Whether you provide a service or sell a product, you reach millions and millions of potential customers.

Any one who owns or who has a computer and internet connection could be your customer.

Internet marketing has become popular because it does not require much effort and money. But it's not for everybody. It has challenges and pitfalls so it may not be the marketing strategy for you.

The secret of being the best of internet marketing is to learn the basics. It requires at least a basic understanding of computers and the online world — your prospects.

Once you discover how to market online, together with the right strategies(which are the basics), a marketable plan, and just a few secrets, you could reach the success you ever dreamed of.

And if you wonder what secrets would it be that you want to have, it's a system. A system you can follow again and again to generate cash continuously. For example, using Google Adwords — it&s no doubt the easiest and fastest way.

Unlike any other ordinary business where you have to hire some people to help you run your business, internet marketing only requires you and your dedication and for sure, your business will boom.

With a bit of patience also, you can achieve the success you have always envisioned. In fact, a majority number of home businesses on the internet are run by a single individual and quite a number of them do this in their extra time, after office for instance.

Internet marketing provides immeasurable advantages, but on the other hand, internet marketing has also its disadvantages. It is very important to consider these advantages and disadvantages when creating your internet marketing strategy. Each of the disadvantages could be conquer, but only if you view the customer experience from the eyes of your consumer, not as an internet marketer.

What are those advantages and disadvantages? Internet marketing is not for free. This is the number one disadvantage of internet marketing. The cost of software, hardware, web site design, maintenance of your site, online distribution costs and time, all must be factored into the outlay of providing your service or product.

Another disadvantage of internet marketing is that there is a lot competition for your product, by the time your potential customers finds you; they have already been clicking many links.

But competition may not be always a downside, do it well, and you can turn them into super-allies boosting your business better than ever.

The good side of internet marketing is that it allows you to broadcast your message to thousands of people at once without paying for expensive ads — at least much better than the offline expense.

You can provide extra information like pictures, sounds, and even videos plus you can change your site whenever you want. Internet marketing is not limited to having a web page. Email lists, newsletters, and catalogs offer other means of reaching customers. And the most important is, your website id available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so your customers can reach you anytime they want.

If you have a website up and running, it’s time for you to know how to successfully market your product or service on the internet. Search engine registries and reciprocal links are very important to promoting your website, but if you think it’s enough, well, it isn’t.

Internet marketing doesn’t stop there. Auto responders, affiliate networks, and discussion forums are also effective in internet marketing. But the very key to internet marketing is creativity — being different.

Always remember that marketing isn’t only things like running an advertisement, or sending out a direct mail piece. It is the thing you do that puts your product or service in front of the potential customers. As mentioned in the name itself — Marketing.

To your success,

Using Google Adwords to Sell Products

July 4th, 2009 Comments off

Optimization is one of the most common problems beginners have when using Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising, like Google Adwords. Simply selecting a few good keywords and paying a high Cost Per Click (CPC) rate isn’t going to keep you in business very long. There’s actually some simple mathematics behind it that can significantly help you find your way to profitable PPC campaigns.

Before you start a PPC ad campaign to sell your products, you need to know the following 2 things:

1.How much profit you make from each sale
2.How many unique visitors you get to your website (on average) before a sale is made

(Note: you should be able to get statistics from your web host that list the number of unique visitors to your website on a given day)

Let’s say you sell a dog training course for $47.00 and you calculate your profit to be $40.00 per sale. You find that your website gets 100 unique visitors before you generate 1 sale.

So, taking the information above… for each unique visitor, you can pay $40.00 / 100 = 0.40 cents to break even, make no money and lose no money. However, since your goal is to make money, you obviously need to pay less for each unique visitor.

Now when you research the keywords and keyphrases to use in your PPC campaign, you now know that you cannot spend more than .40 cents on any click in order to stay out of the negative. A good strategy may be to find the keywords and keyprases that will get you a decent Adrank (which is the position of your ad) with a cost of .25 cents or less.

Let’s say you target to pay .25 cents (on average) for each click to your website. That should leave you with .15 cents profit for each customer. Granted, not all customers make a purchase, but eventually if your conversion rates stay the same you should average .15 cents profit on each click.

If you make .15 cents on each unique visitor, and you drive 1000 unique visitors to your website each day via your PPC ads, then you will make (on average) 1000 x .15 = $150.00 per day.

There’s the simple math behind PPC advertising…

If you’re serious about making money with Google Adwords, then you really need to take Perry Marshall&s FREE Google Adwords 5 day email training course.

Sincerely,

Michael Ellis
